Can USB3 handle games?

Hey guys,

New system coming tonight, I have a nvme on order for Thursday so as a temporary measure, I was going to use a small (500gb) nvme in a caddy and connect via usb3.

Will games run off that setup fine for a couple of days?

I went for a pre-build which I took delivery of yesterday.. Can I use the NVMe caddy with my 4tb NVMe drive, connected NOT USB3 but via the USB C / 4 port on the motherboard?

I ask this, to avoid warranty or having to add into the system.. just run externally?

Should be able to but you'd need a very specific cable like this. You should be fine just running it off any external USB-C port. Should be just as fast. Do you know the model of your motherboard?

I’m not sure on the model. It is a MSI motherboard. Will look into it when I’m home.

Got a 4tb on the way, going to install it inside to the motherboard.
