¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm trying to install Win7 x64 on to a VM and am getting the following error:

Does anyone know if it's even possible to do this with the correct settings or is this not currently possible?

I assume your host is 64bit?

Edit: it certainly is possible judging from this matrix. If its anything like VMWare Workstation/Server however it requires hardware virt on the CPU to run 64bit guests.

Yep, Win 7 pro 64 bit. :)

I'm not so sure if my CPU is up to the task however, I'm running an E5300, would that be why I'm getting this error?

EDIT:

Here's a CPU-z screenie:

why do you need a 64bit windows 7 guest? i could understand if you wanted something that was 64bit only such as 2008 R2/exchange 2010 but windows 7....

just grab 32bit media from here.....

I'm wanting to run Adobe After Effects CS5 which is 64-bit only, and I prefer to run it on a virtual machine as I don't like all the stuff that Adobe software put on my computer... And it also makes things easier for me if I want to use another machine to do the rendering as my E5300 isn't exactly a speed demon - I can simply dump the entire image file onto another machine if I need to.

I've now found that the Q6600 also supports VT-x and I actually have a Q6600 based machine so I'll use that once I find a spare HDD for it... :)
