Can we keep our Steam folder when re-installing OS (new SSD)?

Yeah, only cod 4 is on my SSD for loading times. But so is steam. Other steam games are on HDD. Need to move steam i think.... If i want to download a game i have to move a game off the ssd and let it download and then move it back to the SSD. PITA!
time to do it again!

As you've not got Steam on your C:, just run steam.exe when you load your reinstalled OS.

On rare occasions you may need to delete the clientregistry.blob file, although I've never needed to myself.

This, downloading and reinstalling Steam is a waste of time, just run the existing exe, it will update, do any registry fiddling it needs to do and away it goes.

I haven't downloaded/installed Steam for about 6 years now (on my own machine at any rate) and that's on two different machines and three different OS installs in that time.

what if delete everything + uninstall steam and reinstall from scratch on new hdd?

when installing steam program i should point to new hdd?

Argh!

The only thing you EVER need to do with Steam is copy or move the entire Steam folder, and run steam.exe

On very rare occasions, if it doesn't run, delete clientregistry.blob from the Steam folder and run steam.exe again. However, in all the years I've been using Steam since 13th September 2003 and I've NEVER needed to do this!
