Can white folk grow afro's?

Afro hair is the way it is because the hair follicles produce flat strands instead of round(ish) ones. So it tends to curl tightly as it grows out, a bit like ribbons on presents do when you pass a blade down them after knotting to make 'em all pretty :)

You might get people with a massive round mass of non-afro hair but it's never going to be *as* tightly curled as true afros are!

No, thats not what I said.

You can have curly hair that is just curly and isn't an afro...
Agreed. The only white people I've seen with anything near an afro is people with very frizzy ginger hair. But even that isn't a proper afro. The hair needs to be much thicker.

Think you need african hair, they have tiny hairs that all curl really finely and stuff, there might be a way of doing it if you google about, but I dont think you'll be able to get the proper effect without being black :(

If you've seen Yakitate Japan where Kawachi gets an afro it

ends up being a wig and he explains why since his hair isn't genetically correct or something, I forget as I was laughing too hard ¬_¬
