I was thinking of doing that.....Wonder if Blu-Tack would work?
Bit under the screw notch to stick it down and a bit on top to hold it down, so it is sandwiched between motherboard and case.
its melts into an oily residue in 40C+, its NOT safe for use in PC's.
I've tried, it didnt go well - and it was a total bitch to clean.
I have a 240gb wdgreen sata ssd m.2 2280 and its not long enough to secure it in my GeoBook 540 laptop? Ive found a pic of the whole of the back cover removed from the laptop... This guy is using a 2280(on the left) and his fits, so mine should fit also yeah??There are adaptors to convert shorter drives to longer mounting points. I bought one to convert 2230 to 2242 but it was actually a strip that you break up to get the length you need. Unfortunately it was from a competitor so I can't provide a link but a search for Xclio SSD Extension Adapter should find it.
However, it's incredibly unlikely that your new laptop is 22110. It's far more likely it's 2280 and your old one is 2242.
Looks like there's a ground pad under the screw on the m.2 drive from what I can see (which is what I would expect to see)That's odd as that drive doesn't appear to have the locating notch at the screw end so what's holding it in position? But that's nowhere near 22110 as that would be 30mm further away - a huge difference.
@Phil2008 Can you take a photo of your drive in place in the laptop?
I have been a idiot due to my eye sight, I have been putting the m.2 underneath the slot, as the slot is raised up quite a bit from the board. So it fits perfectly now... Sorry about all that, getting older is a pain in the **** and you can't really see the m.2 slot with decent eyesight let alone with rubbish eyesight as there so thin, plus it doesn't help that everything is black.Ah yes. I was looking at the area around the label. The enlarged pic makes it clearer.
