...from an Apple high street store?

Going Manchester tomorrow and was hoping to pick one up, but I see that online the delivery date is the 28th. Is this just online?

Thanks

Not yet, you can in the American stores now, so I don't expect it will be long before we can in the UK.

You can buy all the others now though.

your jokin, why release them all at the same time but only let us buy some?

Build up suspense and eagerness to buy the product - so you get a boom of pre-ordered and release week orders too.

The fact they're an American company explains why the Americans have some more availability or choice than we do - which is understandable.

£240 for a measly 16GB player with crap battery life who's only redeeming feature is a touch-screen. Are you mad?

Video is "up to 5 hours" iirc. Everyone understands the semantics of "up to" but usually I find Apple's estimate pretty accurate.

I haven't read any third party reports on battery life, so I potentially stand corrected. I wont know for sure until I get mine.

"With an excellent interface and elegant design, the iPod touch is simply the best portable media player ever made."

One persons opinion doesn't mean much. How many times have you heard that phrase? I have heard "the best xxx ever made" plenty of times. It doesn't even have a radio or voice recording.

But that's not touch-screen, and is a lot bigger......

Sorry to be pedantic. But the question was "What is the cheapest mobile device you know that's got wi-fi?". And thats the answer he gave, it doesn't mean that is the only device with wifi cheaper than the touch....

If the question was "what is the cheapest mobile device you know that's got wi-fi, has a touchscreen, and is ~ the same size as the touch." Then a Palm Tungsten TX @ £170 would be the answer.

Quite a lot of "bad screen" issues points to "a bad batch"...

So it might not be the entire Touch range to be poo on the video front, with negative blacks and awful viewing angle...

Hopefully this bad batch stays in America and the rest are good - last thing I want is to buy the Touch and have to hope I win the lottery at the same time for Quality.

Yeah hopefully this wont be a problem. I'll reserve my judgement till I actually see it with my own eyes. I nearly didn't buy a MacBook due to people moaning about "cpu whine" and "glossy screen is too reflective" but they turned out to be non-issues for me.

I'm starting to wonder if it was a good idea to get my engraved now though...
