Can you cancel Sky and sign back up at the same address as new customer?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows the answer to the above?

If I can cancel my Sky subscription at the end of the 12 months and then sign back up as a new customer to take advantage of any offers I see knocking around?

Just tell them you're leaving because the service isn't what you expected and/or Virgin are doing a better deal.

You'll be transferred to retentions dept and practically be offered the new subscribers package.

Not anymore. They used to but recently a lot of people have just being told "see you"

Only do this if you are prepared to go through with it.

Tbh if I lived in a Virgin area I would be with them and not Sky anyway.
 
Exactly. New customer does not mean new address or they wouldn't accept them

I always think its disgusting that you see offers like free installation, new hd box, 2nd box all free blah blah blah but as an existing customer of 10 years "yes, sir you want an HD box, that will be £100 plus fitting. 2nd box another £200 plus £10 per month"

This.

I paid full price for HD when it first came out, never received any discounts or anything, but if my mum wants a hd box now she'd have to pay over £200.
 
I left sky because I was unwilling to buy sky sport 1&2 (which I have absolutely no interest in) to get the F1 channel. I said give me free F1 and I'll stay, as you can imagine they said no way.

So I left, went with virgin and entered a new contract.

Every month afterwards sky then called me asking what it would take to get me back and free F1 wasn't a problem they could do it no problem, too late though already in my new contract.

So I think you can get what you want but expect to have to wait for them to get back to you, I guess most people who cancel don't go through with it and they will take that chance, then try and get you back later.
 
Did the shuffle with my girlfriend when we moved - rather than transfer over which involves paying installation fees, even using my direct debit details, signed up as new user under her name. No problem. Even got a new HD box. Sold my old one and will do it again at the end of contract.

Also, to stop Sky from calling you - tell them you're moving out of country when you call to cancel. Silence after 'OK sir, no problem'.
 
I have noticed recently that companies seem a bit less willing to give you handouts when you threaten to leave. Vodafone gave me the 'see you later' speech while I had to backtrack with virgin, because I didn't want to go to sky and have to get a white trash dish on my wall.

Um, it was well documented that you get Sky F1 free with HD package not justsports and not just for new customers.
 
It wasn't when I left, and not mentioned by the people at sky. Just had another call from them asking what it'd take to go back.
When did you leave?

The channel launched in March 2012, and from a quick google they were saying exactly this as early as December 2011

Sky Sports F1 HD is available to all Sky customers who are either subscribed to Sky Sports 1&2 or our HD service
