Can you change the download directory on steam?

Maybe they never saw a need for it when you basically only have to copy the folder to the new location :/
I think Shamikebab is referring to being able to install different games to different drives? I'd certainly like to be able to run my most played games off my SSD but keep others on my normal HDD.

I've had the same Steam directory for about 4 years now, and many new computers and OS reinstalls.

In fact, it was 15th July 2008 when I last "installed" Steam - although I'm sure that my Steam directory is older still, and I'd not known until after July 2008 that you don't need to reinstall Steam and can just run steam.exe :)

1.Exit the Steam client application.
2.Browse to the Steam installation folder for the Steam installation you would like to move (C:\Program Files\Steam by default).
3.Delete all of the files and folders except the SteamApps folder and Steam.exe
4.Cut and paste the whole Steam folder to the new location, for example: D:\Games\Steam\
5.Launch Steam and log into your account.
Steam will briefly update and then you will be logged into your account. For installed games, verify your game cache files and you will be ready to play. All future game content will be downloaded to the new folder (D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\ in this example)[/I]

This was all i done, just steam apps and steam.exe, then i just auto updated and i was away!

Cheers Egon.
