Can you chaps find it better, for around the same?

Dont buy the hiper psu, the don't last
Look through previous posts.
I'd go with intel, Amd are now where near as good at the moment.

TBH, getting AMD would be pretty insane. You can get better performance for CHEAPER with Intel.

Get the Asus P5B SLI motherboard (OR the Gigabyte S3 965P board) and an Intel E4300. Overclock the E4300, and it will murder an FX-62.

Incidently, I am using an AMD at the moment, and will be switching to Intel any day now.

mmhmm.

Taking the above spec, you could go with the connect X1950 pro (saves you some money, just overclock it a little). and then Get some OCUK 2GB ram instead... costs 140 or so for 2GB, so with the money you save on the GPU, you are probablly spending an extra 10 - 20 for a better system.

Yup and swap the E6300 for the E4300,much easier to clock with the higher multi on the latter.

About £20 more than the original spec however you get 2GB ram, a faster CPU, it will overclock more and is more futureproof.

Thats a great spec, would whip the one in the OP.

He just used our hard work first :p

On a serious note, do you think the Geil ram is better than the OCUK Value stuff? it is the same price too... only the Geil ram says it takes less voltage...

I'd go for the Geil if its they're same price, they've got a good warranty and clock well.

I will probablly be ordering myself almost the exact same stuff as mentioned in this thread (E4300, same P5N-E, Geil ram, Corsair PSU, dvd writter) only difference I will probablly purchase an 6200 rather than anything else.

I am waiting for mid-late feb for the 8800 GTS 320MB :)

I'll be ordering an E4300 and P5N-E tomorrow, have some Team Xtreem PC-5300, a Scythe Infinity and a 3rd 250GB Seagate 7200.10 on the way for some C2D goodness.

Probablly a bit of topic, but not really worth opening another thread just for it.

Do you happen to know if you "require" thermal paste with the retail CPU? or does it come with some pre-applied? also how good is the retail heat sink/fan for overclocking?

I was thinking of using the stock one, then changing it later on.
