Should be pre-applied to the stock sink, don't think the stock sink is fantastic for clocking, but will get you going at the very least :)

I guess we really nuked the poor guys thread lol (well the information I am sure will be just as valuable to him as I) ;)

If it doesn't I guess I will have to pop up to a local store and grab a tube. I probablly have some, but its a few years old, so I dont really trust it much.
 
Hey this is jontain, the guy that this concerns, my account hasnt been activated hence me stealing jeevas.

Any way guys thanks for all the info, i feel quite stupidified now, i was sticking to amd because its what i know, but i have some questions with the setup suggested.

1.Can i run two readon cards on this motherboard, being it sli and all?

2The graphics card is this week only so i think it means im going to be over budget, i think/hope i can strech though?

3.Sounds like im going to need to overclock it all for it to be any good/worth while, true? also how other than in bios?

4.Back to processor the amd says speeds of around 2.2 ghz etc whereas the suggested intel says 1.8 ghz, does this not mean its slower.

5.Will the powersupply be ready to run a second graphics card if i choose so.

6.Kinda of answered by you guys already but suggested coolers? for when i next get paid lol

The AC Freezer 7 comes with the thermal paste pre applied, mine did anyway.

Clock speeds are not everything. It's the way the cpu does it's job thats more important. AMD A64's were much better than the P4 cpu's but were much slower in terms of clock speeds. The fastest single core AMD was the FX57 @2.8ghz yet this would give the Intel P4 EE 3.8ghz cpu a beating.

Now the shoe is on the other foot and it's Intels turn to be the best. You will not regret buying a Core2Duo. They are the cpu to have for the foreseeable future.

but intel has 2 cores do it's kinda like 3.6GHz so intel win all round

No, but with R600 on its way and the 8800series of card you would be better off with one of those than 2 x1900 series cards.

If you're lucky it will still be on offer next week, if not the normal price is only around £6 more.

BIOS is by far the best method of overclocking,y ou don't need to overclock but it is highly recomended. I have my e6300 @ 2.8ghz no sweat, would be more if I had either the 650i based motherboard or faster ram.

The Intel is more efficient, same as the 2.2ghz AMD is faster than a 3ghz p4, a 1.8ghz C2D is slightly faster than a 2.2ghz AMD.

Depends what cards, it will handle a single 8800GTX with ease which is an excellent card. Anything up to 7900GTX SLi would be fine.

The original spec also had a dual core.
 
~K guys, well i think youve about set me straigh, i bow down to your all foreseeing knowledge, so for now shall i go for the x1950 then move to the 8800 when its out and i can afford it lol.

I'd go for the X1950 now and just keep your options open for whats out in the future, I've never seen the point in running dual cards. I always go for the best bang for buck single card option.

hey again guys, just wondering with this system you have advised, which i think i probably will be getting, what your rekon would be a good speed to overclock it too, first with the stock fan and then with an upgraded cooler?
 
Told you I didn't know much about the new Intels, Jonny ;).

Thanks guys, I've got no chance now :P. Got my 8800, though. =) Pity my processor is my major bottleneck now :(.
