Can you connect a sky router to another router?

As title, I have a particular network setup I CBA to reconfigure with a sky router (im not even sure it would work), so can I use the sky router 'as normal' and connect another router via lan cable and use that one as my wifi access, and hopefully somehow turn the sky router wifi off ?

Yeah you can do. On my dlink sky router I've turned off the wireless on it.

Just be sure to turn off the DHCP on the second router or if you want to be overly complicated and have a cable router; make sure that the second router segregates the two networks

Yes as said above make sure you turn off DHCP

The way I have mine set-up is that I have 2 Netgear DG834GT's connected together, we run Ethernet from ground floor to level 1.

Ground floor Router is the WAN router, link Ethernet cable to other router, then on this router make sure you turn DHCP off and set the wireless settings to the same as your primary router

Ahh cool thanks, id need to turn off DHCP on the sky router though, as the 'funny network' settings are on the other router which must be the one assigning IP address's. I only want the sky router connecting to the net basically if that makes sense, no DHCP, no wifi etc.

you can use any router with sky, you just need to get your sky user details...google is your friend old furry friend!

Yeah thats possible. Would be good to set the sky router with a static IP (which it will probably have already) and make sure that the Sky routers IP address is out of range of the 'funny' networks DHCP scope.

Then all you need to do is just make sure that the network clients are using the sky router as the gateway which is likely assigned to them in DHCP.

However, if you have a cable (as opposed to an ADSL) router as your second router this will be a lot easier as you can just plug the Sky router into the WAN port.

Sorry if that confuses things but without knowing the ins and outs what equipment you have it could work either way.

My main router is 192.168.0.1 and the other one is simply 192.168.0.2

just plug it all in mate and it should work kool.

I've got my Belkin N1 vision plugged into my Sky router (use the WAN port on your other router to connect to a LAN port on the sky router), and switch off the wireless from your sky router.

I use a different IP range on my belkin - so for example set the IP range on your other router to 192.168.20.x and it should be all just plug and play from there. Everything you then connect to the 'other router' will filter through to the sky one for internet access.
