i can see a propper new build coming soon and im trying to work out what i want. i think im going to want a reasonable gpu but i realise most of the time it wont be needed so i like low power too. my my laptop will let me flick between the intel igp and the radeon.

what options are there for similar in desktops? i think amd ones let you by allowing a proper card to run as a crossfire, is that the case? also can you do the same with intel and nvidia?

Yes lucid virtu does do this, but its poor and pretty damn useless (Plus doesn't save any power as your GPU wont turn off) Frankly I wish I Didn't install Lucid, I'm too chicken to uninstall it in case something goes wrong so I just leave it off

Indeed, lucid virtu allows this. And you can run the igpu and an add in card simultaneously. However when i last tried it it was quite buggy on my old Z77 system.

i thought all the lucid vertu did was allow quick sync and stuff when running a proper gpu. i know it was briefly all the talk but id seen notehing about it in a couple of years and even their web site talks about old z68 era motherboards, so two generations ago stuff.
