Can you get a toaster with slots longer than 5 inches??

I gave up using toasters, I just use the grill now. Never found one that could actually evenly toast a slice of bread, I guess it's inherent to their heating element shapes.

The Breville VTT236 looks pretty decent and it's only £19.99 with free delivery. But best of all, you can call it Neville (which is definitely what I would do).

I just use the grill. It's one less appliance/plug that I need to worry about for an already small kitchen that I have.

I miss having the coal-fire central heating my parents used to have. Making toast with it was epic. Always tasted better than any toaster/grill.

Also the WARING WT400BU 4-Slice Toaster is a Extra deep slot toaster, has a 3 year guarantee.

This is the sort of thing I'm after! "Extra-deep, extra-wide slots and extra long carriage toasts even the thickest, hand cut slices to perfection"

Thanks for the suggestions (and insinuations! :D) but to address a couple of the posts

- I don't like the 2 really long slot types as I want to be able to toast 4 reasonably long pieces of bread at the same time

- I can't use my grill because it's utter *****

- What I choose to do with my toaster, in my time, is no-one's business but my own......and possibly the local electrician's!

Thanks again chaps....

*edit* only just realised that this is in fact in the wrong section! although I have to say the response has been fantastic - I guess you footie nuts really like your toasting hardware!!!!!!
