Can you get off of a parking fine with a sob story?

I would say its almost impossible once the fine has been given out?

youre wrong. my sob story was that i slept in (having to pay for parking outside where i live.. and didnt get up in time). got to the ticket warden as he was putting the ticket on. i was polite to him, apologised for not moving it in time and ended up having a 5min chat. i think this is what shocked him and he was the one who suggested I write to the council and contest.

Anyway, thats what i did. i explained the story and didnt lie. 2 weeks later i get a letter from them saying the parking ticket had been cancelled and to make sure it didnt happen again. result!


if i can get away with saying i slept in im sure the OP can get away with his excuse.

Ok I'm an idiot! I didn't even read the ticket - it's not a parking ticket at all, they're fining me for not displaying a tax disc! Stupid thing fell off and I just shoved it in the glovebox and forgot about it.

shocking! how much was the fine? jsut say youve had problems with the holder having lost its adhesive.. you found it in the passenger foot well when you got to the car?

And yes, the whole place was crawling with them yesterday!

I got done like this once when I had gone to get change. Got back and found a ticket.

So I explained to someone leaving the carpark and paid for their parking, they gave me their ticket. I sent a copy into the council and explained that the dopy git hadn't seen it even though it was in plain view etc etc.

Got let off with a letter of apology !
