Can you have multiple fingerprint readers on the same PC for Windows Hello?

I have a fingerprint reader on the left of my desk. Can I have a second, on the right? Are there any restrictions? Must it be the same? Or must it be different?

Why?

In theory yes but I can't see any use case where 2 separate devices are required on either side of you.

No idea about Windows Hello but some software we use at work to identify users (printing, some door access, canteen) absolutely can only use one device per machine. Makes sense I guess, one less attack vector for that sweet, sweet canteen mush

Why not?

Not my use case but consider a laptop with a fingerprint reader in a docking station. You'd want a reader accessible when the laptop is closed.
