I've had a few helping hands.
I started on super cheapie ones, but went through a few, they just fall too bits or aren't stable/useful..
So I kept upgrading and now use:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Helping-Soldering-Pillars-Flexible-Resoldering (very very sturdy, metal, and by far is the most stable/useful yet)
with a desk light, available in 1.8x /3x / 5x / 8x magnification (to suit whatever type of work you want), dimmable and you can get whatever magnification you need:
Does me well for all the stuff I make (loads of small smart home gadgets).
