Don't share any folders?

Could just put a software firewall on your machine and block access for their IP?

Or just not share any files etc?

Any particular reason you don't want them on the same network?

Just don't share any drives, or disable sharing on yours. Or do you need that for a third pc?

If you do then you could just use the router to block access to your ip from your kids

Under Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Exceptions tab, edit the "File and Printer Sharing" entry and change the scope to only include the ip address(es) that you want to permit access :)

When XP decides it wants to you can access other workgroups just fine through My Network Places > View Workgroup Computers > Up a level.

Being in a different workgroup doesn't stop access.

Oh, i've never been able to access a different workgroup  Then again, I very rarely using XP in a workgroup environment- always in a domain :o

yeah you can still access another pc if it isnt in the same workgroup by typing \\pcname in or goto entire network and goto the workgroup....install a software firewall such as zone alarm on your pc and add the 360 to the allow list but dont add the other pc.

im running media player 11

this seems to totally control my file sharing settings now with my 360 and reading through it it says

when you connect another computer with a network cable then a pop up will appear asking you if you want to share files from this comp

as a test i selected disable for xbox360 and couldnt stream anything form it

enabled it and all is ok

im wondering if the same will apply

also before i installed media player 11 and was using 10

in my networks i had my network then another under internet gateway this was the 360 which i had to allow

that has now dissapeared and in wmp11 the settings and that are now there
