Can you migrate ISP to new provider and have a different account holder

My flatmate has broadband with O2 (line rental via BT). He is moving out 10th Sep. If he got a MAC code from O2, could I then use it to migrate to a new ISP, but have the account now under my name?

The short answer is yes you can.

As long as the MAC code is valid and the valid MAC code procedure is followed there shouldn't be a problem.

Why couldn't you? All your new provider needs is the MAC from O2 and they'll do the rest. Who's name is on the contract with the new ISP matters not.
