Just create a new Gmail address and use that to make a Youtube account. I've never had to enter a phone number.

Im confident there are ways to circumvent a phone number, ive never given them one.

Try making a spam Google account, ignore the phone recovery option and sign into YT with that. With enough persistence, good things will come!

Normally on the screen where it asks for a phone number, in the bottom left you can skip that step.
Or on account creation, leave the phone number field blank as it isn't required.

I did this for my parents Gmail accounts the other day.

Who cares? I'm sorry but who actually cares - People who don't start embracing companies asking for phone numbers (in this case, for 2FA) are going to be left alone and behind. You're going to become the mother in law who still has her bills sent by post and doesn't have an internet connection.

Now privacy I get, from the ISPs, I fully get that. But a phone number... You're using their service, like it or lump it.

I don't really wish to de-rail a threat but seeing as it's in GD I'm going to proceed and ask, why? I personally love the fact that my bills come to me via e-mail, my e-mail server doesn't tend to go on strike or lose stuff, it also doesn't need to be updated weeks before moving house...

Some companies e.g. BT, British Gas and Microsoft (Azure) don't actually attach the bill but make your login to view which is ultra annoying :mad:

Paper bills are a pain. Far easier to search you inbox when you need them.

I login and print them as soon as they are available. Quicker than post.

That's okay, you can archive and backup your bills online without taking up your own physical space. You also don't need to print bills to pay them (or more likely the case, be informed you've paid them)
