Im going to do a bit of a upgrade but can you still get socket 939 and what one should i get.

Asus A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+
2GB ram

The only way to get them is 2nd hand. They haven't been produced for years.

An X2 s939 would give you a decent performance boost, but TBH for the massive price (check it out) you may as well buy a brand new, current tech system. If you sold your current RAM, CPU and motherboard you could probably do it without spending any money if you aim for an Athlon II X2 AM3 system.

Just as i thought,I think like you said it will be better off to sell my rig if i want better performance,I think i will just get my monitor and when the time is right sell my rig to get a better one.

So what sort of money could i sell my rig:

Asus A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+
2GB ram (Geil)
BFG Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS OC 320MB

Sorry, we aren't allowed to do price checks here (though you can in the specific MM part). However, I would first suggest looking around a popular auction site - prices should quickly become very clear.

Also wigster you are eligible for the MM (members market where you can do price checks). Just click your trust button to enable your trust.

You would get around £40 - £50 for that Asus A8N-SLI Premium on a famous auction site, thats what I got for mine.

Probally get between £20 - £40 for the AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+

£20 ? for 2GB ram DDR1 ?

So would cost you about £140 to upgrade, maybe people can advise you better as I always go with more expensive gear for the sake of it. :)

No point in buying the 550 when the 555 is available :) Slightly faster clockspeed and benefits of the C3 revision

you'd be lucky to get £20 for the 3700+, the ram though you could probably get £40 for, the motherboard and gfx card about £30 each.
i've been looking around recently deciding if i should upgrade an old socket 939 system i took back as a part exchange but have now decided to break it up so am in the same boat as you.

You will get more for them on a famous auction site than on here but then you will have to take into consideration auction fee + paypal's cut.

I managed to get £50 for 2Gb of DDR1 but it was the really good Corsair 3500LL's.

Thanks everyone,But that famous place is a no go,Without boring you will the detail,I shall sum it up.

I got scammed and now paypal has blocked my card&address,I shall never use that place again even if i could.

I think i might sell it all together including the pc case,Then i might buy a second hand one.

if you kept it as a full machine you may have some luck through your local paper's classified ads or those supermarket advert boards people sell stuff on.

Ouch, well good luck selling it, you should be able to get a nice 2nd hand 775/AM2 dual core system pretty cheaply, else you could think about doing an AM3 budget build if you can afford it.

Yep ive learned not to use anything like that place ever again,Hopefully i will be alble to get rid of mine and then i will be finding out how much a 775/AM2 dual core system would be.

Thanks All:)
