can you still get your 970 replaced if you're having memory issues?

Hi,

So I've had my 970 for a while now, under a year mind, and recently I upgraded to triple monitors.

Since doing so I've started to struggle with the 3.5gb memory issues, particularly prevalent on Assetto Corsa.

Is it still possible to part exchange it for a 980/980ti or get a refund? (bought from here last December)

Thanks

No.

They offered the return at the time for a set ammount of time. Its way way past that now.

Wait, are you sure your memory issues with Assetto Corsa are related to video RAM and not general system RAM?

That seems odd. I see you're running triple monitors, but at what resolution? It's highly probably that if you're running into genuine video RAM issues with 3.5GB that even a 4GB card wouldn't be enough.

I mean, i also have to wonder whether you're just running into general performance issues. Triple monitors takes quite a lot of demand from a GPU.

I would advise upgrading to a 980 from a 970 is not going to make a huge difference. 980Ti would be much better imo.

My issue is that my VRAM usage sits on about 3600mb in game, and the gpu usage keeps dropping from 99-100% down to 30-60%, and then back up again. Res is just over 5760x1080 due to bezel correction at 120hz.

I knocked the quality and resolution down so that the vram stays below 3.5gb and then my gpu was at 100% constantly.

And for everyone else yes i'd be getting the ti no doubt. It is Christmas after all :)

Threads always go off track don't they.

Anyway, no you can't exchange it.

But, like others said, absolutely zero point swapping out a 970 for a 980. I'd be looking at a 980ti minimum if running triple screen, but most likely 2 of the buggers.

It was only OcUK that actually for a short amount of time let you return the cards. Nvidia had nothing to do with letting customers return the cards only OcUK. So bear that in mind! If it wasn't for the great customer service OcUK provide then well lol you left to nVidia's peril.

ah fantastic..another sale for Nvidia...what a masterplan they had to shaft customers and force an upgrade after only 1-2 years. Enjoy your new card and see you again in 4-6 months when the next gen cards come out.

You could return it for a refund since OCUK did mislead their customers about the memory but I can't see them giving you anything given they already run a amnesty on 970's some time ago. IMO if you took this to trading standards you would have has case that would be difficult to defend against but it's a lot of hassle.

Not if he's had it for nearly a year!

Less then year? He would still be entitled to claim a full refund under the Trade descriptions act and the Consumer protection from unfair trading regulations as far as I know this isn't time limited to less then a year.

I know OCUK were only printing what Nvidia gave them but at the end of the day OCUK should have checked that what they were advertising was correct. Given the amount of testing and news articles there is on the subject it would be worth while trying to push for a refund.

It would be a very grey area as the card does have 4gb vram all be it 0.5gb is very slow and not the full speed.
