Can you still handle your drink?

How do they pump your stomach out? I've always heard of people having it done, just never seen it lol.

I got it done when u was 16, drunk a full bottle of russian brandy, i didn't have a clue about alochol and it's effects......:D not funny though. I had been drunk once before and wanted to replicate the effects so i thought drinking a full bottle would do it...ahhhh..... i got more than i bargined for.

I managed to 'phone a friend' literally, he didint want to know!!! and then phoned an ambulance, last thing i remember is trying to tell where i lived, i must have given them the village name and then passed out, apparently the ambulance guy was all round the village looking for me, he did find me though obvioulsy, i would have been unconscious by this stage.....damn that was a bad idea drinking that brandy..

I do remember tha ambulance guy talking to me in the ambulance for about 30 secs then i passed out again.

Next thing i rememeber is getting a tube shoved down my mouth ahhhhhhhhhh so bad..... i was in and out of consciousness all the time..

It must be the most unpleasant thing you can ever go through, it is so painful.

They shove a tube right down into your stomach and make you sick, it is so painful and uncomfotable i can't describe it.

You stick a nasogastric tube down into your stomach via your nose and then alternate putting in water/saline and sucking it back out again.

Its rarely done anymore for alcohol excess, the only reason it was really done as far as I'm aware was mainly to teach people a lesson as its horrible, it doesn't help medically, infact it can actually be worse.

For real?? Link....?

That explains a few things, it really is the most unpleasant thing ever. I never did drink much after it, so it must have done it's job...

Surely a "shot" is just the way you drink something? I was told the proper way to drink Absynthe is in a glass, with water and sugar.

I thought it was with a spoon ?

And yes, shot, shooter etc refers to the glass and the fact that its knocked back straight away.

He is/was a med student, so will probably know sans link ;)

I have to say at 30, and after about 3 beers, all i want to do is fall asleep, is this fair doos?

Not that i was every a big drinker, but i can't really ever go out as am just so tired after drinking any amout of alochol nowadays.

do you smoke,? because when i smoked i was the very same, i felt lethargic as the drink and smoke mix wasn't the best combination . now that i am a non smoker i can drink till the early hours .

It's hilarious all the people talking about drinking upwards of 6 or 7 pints. Are people just really ignorant or do they just not care about what they do their bodies?

Actually, in the young, given that the period of binge drinking isn't years and years, the harm done is pretty much null and void :)

These days I can't quite hammer it down like I used to at uni, but I can still put a way a good gutful.

More into the healthy lark these days, so a bigun is rare :)

I think it comes down to practice. And realising that the hangovers aren't getting any nicer ;)

Ant

At uni my limit was 8 pints of Guinness.

Now at 35, I'm more likely to have a pint slowly and enjoy the taste. Max 3 pints really over the time however I'm not really into getting hammered - more about the taste and being slightly merry.

Although having said that between myself and a girl managed to finish off 3 bottles of red wine. I have the sneaking suspicion that I finished slighly more of it..

I've basically developed a threshold where I can tell if I drink any more then i'll be seriously pushing it. Pretty useful really.

Im not sure if its because your body cant hack it anymore. I think its more a case of being out of the 24/7 partying/shagging mode. When you get to 30 other things take president and going out getting blathered just isnt high on the agenda.

I just cant be bothered with the whole get drunk, feel like **** the following day and waste a whole day recovering, would rather go out and drink cokes :o

I can still hold it but I'm much more of a **** when drunk that I used to be :( I hate myself when drunk, so I'm cutting right down.

Used to be able to drink all night and it not bother me while i was at college, now im 22 ive kinda slowed down ab it and cant drink anywhere near as much as i used too :(

My hangover last days now but I still put it away. I try and drink more sensible now though, mind you, that goes out the windows most times.

Last time i did 2 nights in a row, I wasn't right for a week.

I've never been a big drinker and don't really drink much... may have one or two pints every few weeks, and a few glasses of wine but that's at the very max. Although I'm considerably bigger than I was, alcohol still affects me just as it did.
