Can you use 16/10 tubing on 16/11 compression fittings?

Basically, OCUK have the tubing I want in 16/10, but not 16/11 (which is what my current tubing is) am I likely to be able to use the smaller ID tubing with the fittings? They're the EK PSC compression fittings (which are actually listed in my order history as 16/12)

My guess is IF I can get the tubing onto the fittings, it'll be fine, but the main issue is if it's actually likely to be possible, has anyone tried it? From memory, the current tubing was quite a tight fit as it was, and required a decent amount of heating to allow them to go on.

Yeah, plenty of people use to use smaller tubing on slightly bigger barbs + clips. Use hot water to heat the tubing up.

Not much of an advantage doing this with compression fittings, any particular reason you are avoiding ordering more tubing?

Always handy to have some spare.

I'm trying to order more tubing :) OCUK have the stuff I'm wanting in size 16/10, but not 16/11 (which I currently have), so I was trying to figure out if it's worth just buying the slightly smaller stuff to get it done, rather than having to wait until they get the correct sized stuff in. (It's the Primochill clear I'm wanting)

Well, people use to commonly use 7/16" ID on 1/2" barbs. That is a tighter fit in comparison to your stuff on your fittings, but still tighter than normal. Cant comment on it as i don't know what tubing you have but i always favour Primochill tubing if i am using clear rubber tubing.

I'm wanting primochill, but the stuff I currently have is masterkleer. I'm tempted to just buy it and try, but I'll wait at least till mid afternoon to see if anyone else has any other ideas/experience!

It works on barbs but I think the wall thickness will be too thick for the compression ring to fit over.

Can confirm you won't be able to get the compresion ring on over the tubing, and it's quite an effort to get the tubing over the barb:

For reference r.c.anderson I've just built my watercooling loop with primo chill clear 16/10 tubing and monsoon 16/10 compressions and I had to heat every connection in boiling water to get them on and even then in tight spaces it was a struggle to push the tubing on. Also the compression rings were pretty tight the whole way down. I'm no he-man but still I wasn't expecting it to be so tight as they were the right size for each other.

Cheers, Damien.

what SKU are you after R.C.Anderson?

I'm after this stuff: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-107-PM&groupid=962&catid=1530&subcat=1775 I posted in the CS forum about a week ago asking about them, but 5UB said he didn't know when they'll be coming back into stock :(

I had to do that with my current setup. I managed to get 1 on without heating, then I realised how much easier it would be if I heated the ends of the tubes, from then on they went on with a persuasive push, rather than a forceful one, and the compressions felt like they were tightening well onto the tubes. It seemed to work, as it lasted about 2 years without issues!

Yeah don't get me wrong too tight much better than too loose. (I couldn't actually get the tubing off once it cooled). I presume it's the extra 3mm wall thickness making the tube less flexible.

story of my life about 3 months now ive been waiting on ocuk getting the 19/13mm gold monsoon fittings in and still nothing.

anytime i dare to ask i get told to wait 3 weeks to see if they come into stock.

like i said before regardless of what anyone says my experience with ocuk has been nothing short of shocking, and embarrassing at best on there behalf.

way i see it is if they cant provide an item why sell it?? every other company seems to be able to stock it fine so why not ocuk. then there is the price as well

I would say it depends on the fittings you're using,

I tried putting this on 16/11 monsoon fittings - failed :(

But, the tube went on these without issue :)

Not really down to OcUK there. Monsoon don't hold any stock, they make everything to order, and when they're making for retailers around the world it can take some time.

thats fair enough however when almost every other website i can visit in the UK has an almost unlimited stock of the said items then to me its unacceptable.

i done a phone order last week for the parts i was still missing and the place in question had 99 items of a certain angle in stock, while ocuk aint had that item in stock since before 2nd feb.

if the monsoon stuff is hard to come buy then maybe ocuk should consider either buying in bulk or stop selling the stuff. mind you that may be possibly why they were looking for a new buy/sell manager the other week.

Mmmm, probably why i found it odd that it didnt work for you, as I mostly use EK fittings and they work fine with slightly tighter tubing.

I have the EK PSC compression fittings, which looks like it's the same as the ones Shawy has in the picture :(

Maybe other retails have stock because everyone goes to OCUK and buys up their stock first/ not many people buy from other places?

Either way, I don't think I've ever had a bad experience with OCUK, other than them not having some stuff in stock.

It's not my department, but I believe we are working on it. I'd love to use Monsoon in our watercooled systems here, but it's not as easy as just ordering a bunch of fittings from Monsoon.
