Can you use any brand of GTX 285 in a mac pro because apples recommended EVGA GTX 285 which you buy from them costs £399, and takes 4 weeks for delivery, while ocuk sell a 285 for as little as £270. And do you void the warranty using a non-approved GTX285?

fairly sure they use a specific mac BIOS on the card and you have to buy it from them, or buy one from elsewhere but it will only work in boot camp. At least that was the case with previous generations.

But there were ways round this.

insainley mac details how you can flash bios for 285s u need another pc running with another graphics card in.
pretty simple......

Iam running a h20 cooled i7 6gb hacKintosh and was thinking of upgrading my 8800gt to a 285 soon.
A new monitor is priority at the moment;)
