why does the safety car need to be such a luxury sports car if the idea is to slow everyone down. Why not a normal everyday car?

2 reasons

1) The Safety car goes full speed. It needs to be a fast car to allow the F1 cars to not over heat.

2) Advertising. Merc pay a lot of money to provide the official cars for F1, and always use a top of the line car as the safety car

1. To see what the track is like.

2. The SC still have to go very quick. The F1 cars can't do 30mph around as the tyres and brakes would become just too cold and very unsafe.
