In that part of the track there wasn't much Vettel could have done, he could have chosen to hit the wall which is hardly safe or do what he did.
In the past though we would have seen the team tell the driver (Vettel) to let the car behind past to avoid a penalty.

He was never 2nd, David Croft was wrong - he was looking at the gap between Hamilton and Le Clerc and forgot there was another second between Hamilton and Vettel.

I don't see Vettel hanging around next season, and if he does he won't be in a Ferrari, they'd be better off getting Kimi back to partner LeClerc for a couple of seasons...
