im considering to move to BT option 2 from Wanadoo (Now Orange) option 1.

i wanted to know if i can keep my email address?, i presume not..

i have heard of paying a fee to keep an "email-only" account?

any have any experience with this? and in particular - wanadoo

how much is it? and what are my options?

thanks peeps!

Wouldnt it be an idea to ask this question to wanadoo tech support or give their services a call?

As far as I know you usually lose an email addy from major ISP's, which is why I always use yahoo mail... I don't have to worry about it being cancelled etc then. :)

i have put this question to wanadoo tech support. but i just wanted to know other peoples experiences , any ISP experience is good. obviously wanadoo ones are good too :D

i sent an email, waiting on the reply . who said email was next generation? :P

unfortunately they dont have a "Email-only" pay off :/ so i cant keep the email address. bugger.

still be interested if other people have adtempted this and how it went?

Just sign up for a yahoo account, send all your existing emails to that adress, and notify all of your contacts of your new email address. Job done.

Can't you convert your Wanadon't account to a pay as you go account? Dial in once a month or so to keep the account active and you should be ok.

Well ive switched from Tiscali to AOL, and i can still access, and use my Tiscali e-mail account. :)

I thought it would have gone, but i tried it one day out of curiosity, and it was full of get a bigger penis.... this chemist, that chemist etc.... was laods of em. :D

That's because you've recently migrated and not cancelled your Tiscali account ;)

I had the same thing happen to me when I was with AOL as I kept getting a monthly e-mail requesting payment for services even though I was no longer with them

I rang AOL last week and asked them to cancel my account and, sure enough, a few days later when I attempted to access my AOL e-mail account at www.aol.co.uk I saw this:

As you can see, my e-mail status is showing -2 which means that I have had 2 e-mails since my account was closed but I can no longer access them.

I'm not worried though as I have informed all of my contacts that I am with Zen now.

As I now use Outlook Express, if I ever change ISP in the future, it is much easier to migrate without having to worry about losing e-mails!

I have done this with Zen with no problem at all - £7.50 a year aint bad but then I was with them for quite a time so maybe got a discount on first year

Never understood why anyone would use ISP email. The only reason they give it out is the hope that you'll stay so you don't lose it.

You don't need to ring up and cancel your account though, as it all gets taken care off when you migrate.
Not in my case it wasn't

Notice the date, 13th of June and I migrated on the 5th May!

If I hadn't blocked my debit card I would have still been charged as how else would AOL know that the card payment details is no longer valid?

I do hope that you have cancelled your payment with Tiscali or the same thing might happen with you?
