Cancel the Nexus 4 and wait?

It would be great if google did release another nexus phone at that time, 1080P SAMOLED, water resistant, top end camera!A lot of nexus 4 owners wouldn't be best pleased
Usually I would agree with it being unlikely Google announce a new phone so soon after the Nexus4, but Motorola are causing concern among their shareholders, they need to start turning it around. So I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Googlerola phone make an appearance at Google I/O. I'm pretty excited to see what they can produce when they are in control of everything right from the start through to the manufacture. I could be tempted to sell the Nexus 4 if it meets my expectations!

Maybe it isn't a concern for you and other people, but for many people especially for the likes of myself and kona it is
- I carry out tasks when my phone is just sitting on the desk
- when lying in bed
- showing photos/videos etc. to more than 1 person i.e. 1 person at each side
The slightest change in angle often produces washed out colours, with the IPS screen on the one X and any SAMOLED screen this isn't a problem at all, you will always get the best colours no matter what angle you view it from, where as with the majority of Sony devices, even the slightest angle and the colours go straight of, which is why I usually find their screens very "meh"

also since the screen is LCD, blacks will look beyond bad when viewed from an angle.

True, although it won't be a "proper" nexus device going by the rumours i.e. Motorola keeping the stock android experience, however, adding their own features etc. thus updates might still be a concern, maybe not as bad, however, I can still see the true "nexus" devices getting the updates a lot sooner than it.
Still very interested in it though! Hopefully the camera will be excellent on it and there is a very good chance that it could have a SAMOLED screen

I'm not so sure, I genuinely think that all future Motorola devices will run stock Android I don't see why they would skin their own vision of the best mobile OS. I also think Motorola phones will receive almost instant updates, I don't see why they wouldn't.
I could see them carrying on the Nexus brand as their budget device which acts more as a loss leader to get people onto the platform, and helps support manufacturers then their Motorola brand can be used to sell more premium devices where the device itself turns a profit and doesn't make sacrifices with stuff like the camera in order to meet a headline price.

And then going by their new RAZR phones, very much like stock android but with more features.
If they do introduce more features and change things a wee bit then it will take longer to provide the update as opposed to "pure" android to the nexus devices.
They were pretty quick with the JB update for the RAZR phones in the USA (around December iirc), but again should have been quicker considering they don't support any other phones afaik and the skin being very close to stock android.
I have no problems with them introducing more features as I think stock android is very limited and touchwiz, sense etc. are much better on the whole apart from the theme, app layout etc. I just hope that they provide the updates quickly enough i.e. not taking months to deliver and if the phone is shown of at i/o and google are indeed involved then they will have to keep the device up to date and deliver them in a timely manner, otherwise many people will be put of any future phones of theirs (again) and it would also damage google's "image".

I personally would love a MAXX Nexus phone, as long as the rest of the hardware is great and the software is very close to the stock experience, at least in terms of design, really hate everyone else's take on android.
I'd like to interject and point out that nexus 4 has a gamma fix with custom kernels out already, thanks to faux. Running on Harsh's kernel which is basically stock +latest fixes +100mV UV +gamma control, I wouldn't trade this phone for any other. Oh, and paranoid android in expanded desktop mode for full glory.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the screen itself, it's just Google that pushed out gamma levels way too low.

Although not a gamma fix or a video, the reviews of this app suggest tweaking the colours can make a huge difference
