So after having xbox live gold for 6 years, 2 weeks ago I was met with a message that my gamertag 'crimson slam' was offensive. Funny how after 6 years the first cod game I play online thats full of children, it suddenly gets enough complaints (there goes my 2.4 k/d ratio). I tried phoning/emailing and posting on the official xbox forums asking as to how that name breaks the LIVE policy, quite frankly, its not an offensive name. There is nothing on urban dictionary, google searches bring up nothing for the first 15 pages and I have never, NEVER had anyone tell me its offensive. So after 2 weeks of being told change it to get access again I decided to give in and just cancel my subscription.

Am I being too stubborn? I just dont see any offense and Im getting no answer as to why its offensive.

Dont think so, I would have to pay 800 points and I think they store it in the data base. I tried replacing the L with a capital i but no luck.

You wont lose your K: D if you change it. Although I agree why should you? Say you'll change it but only to "pigeon rapist"...its free....... I just checked. I do notice when I play COD games my feedback always takes a dive...seems to attract a lot of petty kids.

Ye, I mean I dont care much for gamerscore and that and I know I wont lose that or my MS points, but its my gaming alias from the very first day I played a game online :(

It's not there when you click on it, but did you not see the 4th Google text result 11 Febuary 2009 Urban Dictionary? Admittedly the extra word clam is in the middle of the phrase, but it doesn't seem totally baseless.

ye but theres no definition. urban dictionary has 5 million words that anyone can add. I could add a definition for 'finite' saying its someone who supports the holocaust, then they can look at it and ban you. Its really unfair unless its a totally obvious/common phrase.

Have you or are you able to ask them why it is offensive? I think they may have forums for issues like this and bannings where you can ask them to explain.

It's Americans, they're retarded! I've had trouble before, albeit on the PC, where I was told that naming my Ranger's pet cat "Bagpuss" was highly offensive and that if I didn't change it my account would be banned.

After a month of contact with support they still wouldn't explain just what was so offensive about one of the best children's TV shows of all time.

hmm..okay I'm worried now

I've been stopped from signing up to sites before using Wannabedamned, I like my name!! If they're being stupid about Crimson Slam...Which btw i still dont get why thats bad : \

Damned could quite easily get me beaten

Crimson slam can be construed as a sexual euphemism more than wannabedamned could be though. Maybe if you were called wannabebuggered then maybe! :p

Lost my Live name of Digital Porn after 2 snotty little Americans got the arse after I was spanking them on CoD MW. Logged on one day to be greeted with a message telling me that I'd had complaints that my tag was offensive.

I explained that Digital Porn just ment something graphically pretty but it was a mute arguement with the retard on the phone. So I said "Fine, change the OR for an AW" .. Job done. :D
