Im now into my 3rd month with 3 on a 12 month sim only contract, and for the past month I hardly had any signal from them, I get no signal at all downstairs & only one bar upstairs, I've phoned them up 4 times now, get told the same story the is engineers in your area fixing the mast :/.

Everybody who i know that is on 3 in my area also has this problem to so it not my phone, but nothing has improved I'm now fed up with 3 and their bull.

Tbh now i wish i never switched from Giffgaff as in all of the time i was with them nearly 2 years i never had any major problems with them, apart from that one problem with O2 having an outage.

I was suckered in by their amazing sim only deals, ultrafast internet & the promise of 4G for free at the end of the year, first couple of months was great, but i need to use my phone & having no signal at home is a major problem for me, i need to go upstairs to either phone somebody or send a text, even when i phone people upstairs i keep getting constantly cut off :(.

As I'm on a 12 month sim only deal, can i cancel this at anytime i want to with the 30 day notice or do i have to keep this going now until next year?

This is what i'm currently getting on 3 for the past month upstairs :/

I actual had 0 signal at home for 3 weeks on Three and I was very close to leaving, I called up at work where I had just 1 bar and they told me about all these towers that where having work done on them at the same time. I pressed them and said its not acceptable, since I have no signal the services is useless and just a money sink. They did offered to give me 3 months free and told me to wait 1 week.

I called again and the first person on the phone told me these "works" where done last month, the second person told me it would be finished next month. It just seemed like 1 big ass lie too me. I then escalated it to the manager who got some special team involved.

At this point I was getting regular calls from them (house phone since I had no signal) to see if its was up and running. It took a few more days after this but since then I have had great services. There was another weekend where I had no signal so I phoned up again and I got another 2 weeks for free.

It was very spotty for awhile and I was close to leaving, but it got better and now I get 20mb+ which was faster then my broadband till last month.

I would say phone them up first. I have read online that some people have managed to cancel their contract midway due to not having adequate services, I believe I saw this on moneysupermarket. If I find a link I will update this.

But I think you should call firstly and see what they tell you, and from their you can take steps to leave. Most of the ones I have seen that where able to cancel where phone contracts, this involved them returning the phone. I think it should be much easier with a sim only as there is no phone involved.

You can get out of contracts if you have a strong enough argument. I've only done it with a 12month SIM-Only with Vodafone but I complained about:

a) Poor data access at work (overused 3G in London)
b) Billed the incorrect amount and having to call up for a refund twice
c) Annoying and misleading sales calls

I raised a formal complaint to a team that investigated quite thoroughly then they offered me compensation, but I just asked to get out of the contract which they accepted.

I had the same problem with no/poor signal it most of the house, they sent me a sure signal type thing within a few days for free. Works a treat 99% of the time had an issue or two at first when it forgot my phone no. so it didnt work for a few hours. They told me the same old thing about engineers, but managed to convince them without much trouble.
