Due to semi forseen circumstances I'm now debating whether to fly with Easyjet next week so I was wondering how easy it is to claim tax back from them. Anyone done it recently, and also how do I find how much tax I actually paid as it doesn't seem to show anywhere (just the all inclusive price)?

It's either that or changing the flight details, but I don't know where I want to go atm...:p

They will charge an admin charge that is equal or greater then the tax rebate.

It won't be worth it.

These are the things I have heard already :p

Yes I have travel insurance, but it won't pay out for this reason (Going with GF, but she now can't go).

What is the Admin charge does anyone know? I think i'm going to just change it for another flight, just need to decide where to go..

make up a better reason as to why you can't go.

If they are anything like Ryan Air, you have more chance of getting the swiss to cought up gold fillings.

My Mrs was travelling to Salzburg for a weekend away with her cousin, when her cousin was diagnosed with a serious spinal tumour and had to go into hospital for immediate treatment.

She tried to cancel and get a refund as she wasn't sure when her cousin would be fit to travel but RyanAir wouldn't do anything, even after letters to the MD.

Ended up getting a little bit back for her flight only (She had paid for both) from insurance.

RyanAir are the lowest and i'm not talking about the price.

Hopefully Easyjet are easier going, but I wouldn't bet on it.

easyJet is a non-refund airline save as provided in our "Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage" and in these Carrier's Regulations.

Conditions of Carriage Article 6.6

You may cancel your booking within 24 hours of making the original booking. Please note a cancellation can only be processed up to two (2) hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time. You will receive a refund (including APD but excluding any credit card, transfer, speedy boarding, sports equipment, or other administrative fees). A cancellation fee per passenger per journey will be charged in accordance with the table below. Cancellation must be made via our call centre on 0871 244 2366 (calls cost 10p per minute; calls from mobiles and other networks may cost more. For other telephone numbers visit the contact us section). Refunds will be made to the credit or debit card used to make your booking.

easyJet regrets that it is unable to offer refunds in the event of passengers being unable to fly owing to any change in personal circumstances, including but not limited to medical grounds, with the exception of the application of the 24 hour cancellation policy.

In exceptional circumstances, however, easyJet will consider issuing a credit in the event of the bereavement of an immediate family member (mother, father, brother, sister, grandparent or child) provided that the claim and a copy of the death certificate are submitted by post to the easyJet Customer Services Department.

All claims will be assessed entirely at the discretion of easyJet. This credit will be to the value of the original fare paid less an administration fee (equivalent to the cancellation fee in the table below) per passenger per journey and can be used against any future flights on easyJet within the following six month period.

easyJet strongly recommends passengers obtain adequate travel insurance to cover them in such circumstances.
