I've been trying to get into taking more candid photos of people out and about, I've always been a bit nervous about doing it which is always frustrating because often that delay in thinking about whether to take the shot means you miss it. So when I spent the weekend in Vancouver where no one knew me, and if people decided to hunt me down I need only have laid low for a day or 2 at most I took the opportunity to be a bit more blase with my photography:

Number 5 is my favourite. Nice shot. It makes my head spin though trying to work out the angle of the shot, but I think thats one reason I like it. Good work. :)

have to say 5 aswell its a lovely candid shot, says quite a lot as an image can really tell the children are fully drawn in by the running water, works well good one

I think they're pretty good shots...4 is my favourite, and 1, though the woman's face seems a bit blurry (due to movement?).

For a couple of years I always tried to avoid people appearing in my shots, but have since realised they add perspective or interest to a lot of photos. There was something in Amateur Photographer magazine recently about taking photos of people, and their advice if you're spotted taking candid pics was just to smile and say "carry on with what you're doing...that's a really nice pose...I like your whatever etc" and offer to show them the picture(s). Most people will be fine with this. I think it was good advice. :)

Some good shots there, 5 and the last one do it for me :) the B&W works very well, well done :)

i'd love to start taking candid pics, but whenever i try, people see the camera and start screaming.

literally.

Thank you!! :) :)

It helps if your not naked :p

Good advice, although this could be an interesting technique to get some good reaction shots... I can see it now, "Next months photo comp theme is shocking candids"

Very good shots, though when I saw the word "Candid", I was very surprised to see it on the OCUK Forum. I was half expecting to see downblouse and upskirt shots lol!

Very well done! Your dancing pictures are incredible! SO much emotion, especially in the first picture.

The blur adds to the movement if you ask me. It is very hard to take that kind of shot. Tried it a cuple of times but was never that successful! Very well done!!!!
