The number of cannabis farms being found by police has trebled over the last two years, according to a report. BBC Link
If Cannabis farmers agree to move to some other crop or to use the house for some other purpose (e.g. as a brothel), should they receive "set-aside" payments from the EU? :D

This really annoys me.
Home grown removes the need to buy off moody dealers and be involved with criminals. In the dam you are allowed to grow up to 6 plants for your own use and i see No reason why we shouldn't be able to do the same. I cannot believe that even grannys get busted and took to court for growing a few plants.
It's ok to drink like a fish and disturb your neighbourhood but not ok to grow a few plants and smoke them in your Own home, Madness.

Completely agree it's so backwards it's unbeleivable. If alcohol had been invented today it would be completely illegal, the health issues related to nicotine and alcohol infinitely overshadow any health risks from cannabis use - and why should people be forced to buy it from dealers who are making non-taxable profit, the latest trend is grit weed - spraying the cannabis with particles of GLASS to make it heavier, no wonder people want to grow their own organic weed.

I agree partly, however a lot of these 'home' canabis farms are where the dealers get there supply from. About 60% of the uk's supply now comes from homegrown sources. While alcohol can be very damaging, so can Canabis. Several of my friends now suffer from psychological problems, that are a direct result of or triggered by Canabis use. You me that its madness not being able to gorw and smoke a few plants in your own home, but would this be the same for say Opium or Coca plants?

Well said Malc :)

Another point is, where my mom lives you can see people openly selling heroin and crack but if someone so much as thinks about selling weed they are busted pronto

Its a joke this country it really is

Messiah.
My comments only relate to those growing at home to smoke personally & Not to farms who supply dealers.
I want it legal to be able to grow up to 6 plants for your own use. But i want action taken against farms who are exploiting people and flooding the streets with weed.
But before this i want them to rid the streets of Blatant crack & smac dealers. I know of many front lines around the country where crack & smac is openly sold and the police do nothing. First tackle the grade A's then bother the weed smokers. It is totally ridiculous to me to waste tax payers money busting weed smokers when Smac & crack are rife around the country.

 at the glass thing!

Personally I think MDMA should be made legal, as it would stop mixing it with other crap and be much more safe, safe areas, water etc. At least amsterdam are selling testing kits cheap. Class A means no medical use and addictive, both of which is false for MDMA.

Back onto weed, same sort of thing. If it was made legal then it would be much better quality, but be taxed massively so that would be bad. The government would never allow us to grow plants because they wouldnt get taxes from it and they 'need' police/DEA to run huge drug raids to give them something to do!

Again its another example of the government trying to tough in places where it doesn't REALLY matter as much as it claims to.. I'm against illegal drugs in general, i've seen first hand what heavy use of cannabis does to someone, but its no different from alcohol or tobacco. I suppose these farms could be used to supply dealers etc. I don't see a problem in growing cannabis for medical therapy, it has been known to ease pain where most other pain killers fail due to constant use. I just think the government needs to concentrate on more serious issues, instead of demonising old ladies with back pain and the odd few people who just want to chill out with a joint..

In which case I agree with you. However the government have to be carefull to not appear to condone the use (and abuse) of any drug. To be honest im in two minds on this issue. When I was younger, I used a lot of Cannabis, so I know that most users and even so called 'dealers' are far from dangerous criminals and do little damage on society. But also as mentioned, I have seen first hand the bad side of the drug, which can lead to severe psychological problems several years down the road.

So from a 'protecting society' point of view, I agree that we need to tackle the smack and crack scurge that affects so much of our country. But also from another point of view, we should do all in our powr to reduce the amount of people abusing soft drugs such as Cannabis. Im not saying hard policing is the way, as better education is probably a more effective route, but we can't ignore the issue altogether.

What is laughable is while these NO SWEARING are pontificating over weed use they are all sat there with Huge Brandys.
Knowone who drinks alcohol can say a damn thing about smoking weed.
Apart from it's illegal which is just plain wrong.
