Anybody got a cannon S70 please help me!

How can you make the vid clips rec. longer than 30sec in 640x480??

In lower i can rec. as long as i want.

I thought the S70 limited 640x480 to 30 seconds and 320x240 or 160x120 to 3 minutes?

What's the longest you've managed to record for at lower resolutions?

*EDIT* I'm sure it's limited in all modes - the buffer can only hold so much data.

Ah maybe your right then, dont think i have been longer than 3mins!

So i take it you cant change this then!? will be a shame coz 640x480 vids look really good, just need more than 30 sec.

Are we still talking about cameras?

Unfortunately you are restricted by the size of the buffer within the camera, as it can only squeeze so much information in before it has to write it to the memory card. With video you are filling it up pretty quickly, meaning that it needs to dump that onto the card before it can start filling the buffer up all over again.

I don't think the S70 can write directly to the memory card, although some bright spark may be able to hack the firmware about to allow this. Whether that's been done or is even possible is open to some debate.

One option would be to stitch the clips together - you may find that short 30-second bursts work well, allowing you to edit the resulting video with more ease.

You can't, the S80 can however, no limit (well, about 8 mins as the limit is up to 1Gig). But the S80 removes the RAW mode. With the S70, it's 3 mins in lower res.
