Cannot Find Second HDD?!

I popped in my old hard drive to retrieve my files and windows doesnt find it, ive tried it in different sata port and no joy...

What have i done wrong, ive checked the connections...

Any help with be greatly appreciated..

Things to check rather than a solution..

1) Is the second drive recognised by the BIOS when the machine boots?

2) Does it appear in the Disk Management app in Control Panel?

It doesnt shiow in the BIOS, and its not in disk management.

I have exactly this problem myself, although it's with a new drive rather than one I already had. It's not a problem with the drive as my mate's drive doesn't show up either. It's not the cable, as I've tried two different ones and neither work. Could it be something with the motherboard? Other things to check?

Im sure it should just show up in windows and it should install it automatically like my other drive. Its a bit annoying because i need some files urgently.

what do you have your bios set to sata raid or sata/ sata ide
