cannot get into anything

Apart from ARMA sessions with the RPS group, I've found nothing really grips me for long after finishing XCOM : Enemy Within.

I expect this is down to my only managing to get near my home PC for a couple of hours at the weekend these days, so I want a quick fix of entertainment and don't put a lot of effort into any game that doesn't engage straight away.

This is the issue I have been having for nearly a year.
Constantly thinking 'No point playing that as I only have 3-4 hours spare...'

I get this more and more.

I questioned if it was my age and if I needed to grow up (which I hoped it wasn't!)

Think It was just because I wasn't interested in them particular games, I recently picked up Walking Dead season 2 (after loving the first) that certainly got my attention, barely put it down till I finished it. Now I'm playing X-Com (which isnt my thing at all usually..) but actually really enjoying it. It's a strange one, I bought Divinity Original Sin myself, on paper it sounded like my ideal game, not managed to really get into it as of yet though!

My rule is to not play the same type of game (especially a game from the same series) one after another. However I did semi-break that rule recently by playing Borderlands 2 so soon after completing Borderlands. But to be fair I did do a fair bit of indie gaming with Eldritch & A Wizards Lizard. (Great games btw)

But as with others if I do fall into that state I try and go back to some older games, especially classics from N64 & PS2, and some of them really do look fantastic on PC! ;)

Same as the OP.

I will spend ten minutes on a full price title, yet I find myself always visiting Kongregate (flash game site) and spending well over an hour at a time there.

having fun playing overpoch on arma 2 with friends :D

think its good to have a couple of decent different type games to play. not all same.

I'm considering getting Golf Club on PS4 for about £22 with PSN codes off ebay. I'm not a watcher of golf, but I understand it. Used to enjoy the Tiger Woods games and I have a friend who plays it. Worth the punt? Also have Garden Warfare which I've gotten into as well.

The main problem with me is single player games, if there's no aspect of multiplayer I get bored and it gets deleted.

I play Marvel heroes/Diablo III/(or an MMO) mainly, I just like the fact I can play solo and have a laugh with others in clan chat or simply watch the drama there.

Single player games are just too dull, I even wonder if HL3 will do it for me if it ever releases

TBH there's not been much out recently that has interested me, most of the IP's I really liked have come to a natural end, and there's not been anything to fill the void they've left.

I go back to games I've started and not completed for whatever reason. I'm currently playing Batman AC, I left it because performance wasn't great on release. Although they never sorted it out, now I've got it installed on a fast SSD and using a GTX 690, it runs quite well now.

I have been in the same boat also but past week been playing The Hunter and Robocraft both games i did not think i would enjoy but with group of friends on Skype it is probably the most fun i have had gaming all year

so lately i just cannot get into any game for more than say 10-30 minutes

so tried playing Mafia II again and it was bit boring
so tried playing Watchdogs again just didn't seem to pull me in.
so tried Divinity Sins (new game) just seem slow

just played game of dota its a bit more fun but not by much.

what do you do when this happens to you?

Take a break. Do other things. You'll get the itch to game sooner or later.

It's not the games it's you.

Maybe a week and you'll be cured.

It sounds like singleplayer fatigue. Switch to multiplayer.

Or, try some indie titles. I used to be big into driving and FPS games but I barely touched Grid Autosport after a couple of weeks and rarely play Battlefield or CS:GO/Source now. A few good ones have already been mentioned; KSP, Don't Starve. Just try something you'd not normally play. Or, try watching some TV or doing something different for a while to get out of the funk.
