I'm off on holibobs tomorrow and to keep the GF happy whilst away I've said I will keep my server on and she can access it via Plex.
Normally I let the server to go sleep and I can use my phone, whilst at home, to wake it up (I use Fing which works when in sleep but since it updated itself to Windows 10 it won't wake up from off anymore)
I've looked for progs etc I can put on her laptop and the few I've seen all seem to suggest they can wake it up but I can never get it to happen when trying to from a remote location and not on the home network.
It's all set up for WOL to be enabled and magic packets enabled. I have the PC local IP and it's MAC code and fairly sure I've opened the right ports etc but it still refuses to play ball.
Is there anywhere that gives simple instructions for the hard of thinking like me to get this working?
Alternatively I could stop it going to sleep but not sure how much electric it will use.
