Hi,
Been away for a few days during which my girlfriends familys internet connection (AOL) had been playing up. They took it upon themselves to reset the router loosing all settings meaning loss of internet connection (This time their fault).
After ringing AOL my girlfriends dad managed to go through the basic options with them to get a connection up and running. When I returned I put basic security on too (Only wep - It is what they had before and what they wanted back on again).
All machines (one desktop connected via ethernet, two laptops connected via wifi, one Xbox 360 connected via wifi) are connected and working fine, but one - My girlfriends laptop.
Spent a few hours on it yesterday and it has me stumped! The laptop never finds her network connection. It occasionally picks up one other connection (A distant neighbour I assume) but never her own (Even when in the same room as the router).
I tried changing a few settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the PCMCIA wifi card - Still no joy. Tried the PCMCIA wifi card from her dads machine (That was connecting fine) and still no joy.
At this stage I believe the problem must be with my girlfriends laptop - Other people connect to the router fine so no router issue (I believe) and a confirmed working wifi card acts the same as hers so I'd imagine its not that either.
I know its a long shot and I've not been able to specify much (If there are any more specific details required please ask) but I'd love any help... I'm really stumped and, of course, want to be able to help my girlfriend, and her family, out!
Cheers in advanced,
Dan.
EDIT: Forgot to mention: The router *is* broadcasting its SSID
