Hi I have a 350d and I am looking to purchase this lens as a crimbo present for myself. :)

Does anyone have one, any images taken with one and any opinions on this lens. :)

I love this lens. For the money it's fantastic!

I took this with it:

Got a few others knocking about too, but I only like that one :D

Actually, it's a fantastic lens regardless of the money. Mine is the Mk1, (i'm old enough to get one first time round), but the glass is the same, and it's a very good lens.

For the money, I would recommend that everyone with an EF lens fitment should have one.

If anyone has one and has the kit lens could you please take a photo with each lens so I can see the sharpness difference thanks. :)

Kit lens

Not exactly the best shot ever, but that's all I have uploaded taken with the kit lens.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. :o

A comparison of the same object (shot) taken with both lens for a direct comparison. :)

I bought one of these on Thursday for my 350D and it arrived on Friday. Very, very pleased with it. It's compact and light weight, very sharp images for the price. Everyone should have one of these - excellent for portrait photo's too.
I will try and put up a comparison later on.

I'm going to be purchasing one of these in the near future but is £65 a respectable price to pay for the f1.8? or am I being fooled.

Wonder if it compares to my uncles Carl Zeiss 50mm 1.4 that I've had the joy of using on his camera, mm.

£65 is a bargain for these lenses, i paid £75 for mine and its great
ive heard very little complaints about them, and if for some reason you get a bad copy you can always send it back :)

I prefer the zeiss, most 50's are good the 50mm 1.8 being no exception

£65 is good. I'm a possibly maybe prospective buyer of a DSLR in the near future, perhaps a 30D. I've decided to add a 50mm f1.8 to the list and £69 is the best price I can find. Think I'm going to have to expand my repetoire of camera shops.

If it were twice the price it'd still be a bargain

I paid £69 for mine when I bought it with my 400D last week so I would say £65 is a good price to pay for it :)

I think my lens cost £100 when I got it. I've used that lens more than any other I have. Okay I've only got 4 lenses, but hey it says a lot baring in mind that one of them is the Sigma 12-24 :)

Think I'm the odd one out here. I've tried REALLY hard to like the nifty, to the extent that I've bought three different copies, each time I've sold it again. It just doesn't suit anything I do.

There's nothing wrong with it, just not for me.

I find exactly the same, although I've only bought it once! (Nikon equivalent too) :p Its a very sharp lens, good for low light shooting. However, I've had mine over a year and only found two occasions when its been useful. Granted, its been indispensable for those two occasions, but its still of limited use overall.
