Canon 60D Announced

Was just about to post this :p

don't really like the flip out screen for some reason, and priced at £1099 I'd still go for the 7D

Same. I find the screen a bit gimmicky.

And it only has 9-point AF as well, would definitely go for the 7D.

Its a kind of 'creative' view point to the 7D then. More or less identical to it apart from flipout screen, 9AF points and slower FPS, the video features are interesting I must say. Also the eye-fi features are unusual

Its almost like canon wasnt that sure what to do with the 60D and said, heyy lets make it a media students dream ? lol

It just seems they are going to quit with the format that the XXD's where. Now making it cheaper. Just a larger 550D. It will also be a year before it's makes sense financially to buy one of these over a 7D.

Unless you need a flip out screen it's all pretty pointless for the current price.

The price of this thing, if you're not after an articulating screen or video recording, makes the 50D seem like an absolute steal.

its the same every time canon release a camera, shocking rrp, but comes down quite a bit over time.

The 550d was £900+ at time of launch, you would have to be mad to buy one at rrp when the 7d is closely priced.

I just cant get over the plastic body!

A very strange move. So for the price you may as well get a 550D.

The only way imo this could have been worthwhile is if they had improved the autofocus on movie mode and made it usable. Yet they have made no improvements in that area at all.

I can't see it selling well at all except to complete new adopters.

I will wait for the 7D mkii or whatever replaces the 7D until I spend anymore money on a body.

IMHO, Canon have mucked the XXD range up quite royally by creating a XXXD camera with better ergonomics.

This could have been much more interesting a product, but instead they've literally cheapened it and made the 7D seem a much better option for the money, and the 550D seem much cheaper for pretty much the same features.

I'll probably upgrade to a 1D Mk3/7D/5D Mk2 over this.

Opportunity missed, IMHO.

HOW ABOUT YOU RELEASE A FULL FRAME CAMERA WITH A DECENT AUTOFOCUS SYSTEM AND REASONABLE FRAME RATE IN A COMPACT BODY. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK??!?!?!?!

Getting bored now. Nikon D700 has been out for years now and yet still no competition from Canon. Just endless piles of consumer drivel. Oh well, can always hope for a 3D next year, if only to shut me up!

This is true, this time next year if nothing from canon im going to have to sell up all my canon gear (5d and lots lenses) and move over to the dark side.
