Just had a fiddle with the Canon 70-200mm F4 down town, along with the 1.4x TC. Big mistake I think!

It focused so fast, the build quality was superb, and even with the 1.4x convertor the images look impressive.
The price was £489 in the shop, but even if I bought the lens along with the 1.4x TC (£289 in the shop), they'd only knock £30 off! Talk about tight!

Anyway, i'm seriously considering going down this afternoon to buy the lens, and then i'll probably order the TC off Ebay or something. They seem to be around £199 new on there. :)

Well i'm looking at Ebay atm. There is a seller based in Scotland who's selling it for £409 + £10 P&P. And the 1.4x TC for £195. If I have confirmation that they're in stock, and that he can provide a proper invoice for Canon cashback then I might just be losing a bit of money this afternoon :p

Off to Cornwall this weekend so a new toy would be nice!

I think I know which guy you are talking about on Ebay, Kerso? , he has some great lenses for amazing prices

If it is him ,i asked about cashback and he said he would provide invoices, although I`m not sure if they will work as Canon will look at the serial number and know where it was made, and distributed to, worth a try though :)

Good choice Raider. I also got mine of Ebay (used) and have not looked back since. Not tried it with the 1.4x tele but I hear the Sigma and Kenko ones work well with it for a lot less money :)

Yeah Kerso is the guy.

I'm also tempted by the 300mm F4 L IS for £790 inc P&P. With cashback that's £685, awesome :D

i`m getting very tempted to buy a 100-400is as I might go to the air tattoo
he also sells lenses outside of ebay for cheaper, but Its a lot of cash to part with to someone you dont know

agreed, im just looking at the 100mm macro lens he has, he normally knocks off at least the cost of the paypal fees if you buy from him outside of ebay. there is a massive thread about 20+ pages long on another camera forum about him, and i have yet to read a bad post about this guy.

i still have a slight worry about depositing such a large wad of cash straight to someones bank account that i dont know

he ebay feedback is awesome as well, so many things are telling me this guy is fine. apparently, he will even ring you on the phone to discuss your purchases, and he is in america!!!

if anyone here has purchased from him outisde of thebay can you tell me if all went well, cheers (hope i havent broken any rules talking about this on here)

If he's in the US, then what's the deal with selling from Scotland?

Or is he constantly going back and forth with suitcases full of lenses... "No nothing to declare officer" :p

EDIT: Just found that thread on the "other" forum. Any reason why I can't post the link btw?
All signs point to him being a 1st class seller. So I think i'll be ordering the lens tonight along with the 1.4x convertor. Whoot! :D

not sure about posting the link raider, prob best to check with a mod to be on the safe side, i dont "think" its a competitior, he posts lenses to his mum in scotland, she forwards them onto peeps in the uk.

that thread makes interesting reading:)

im 99% of the way there to doing what your about to do bud, for a macro lens and a flash lol :)

just buy it, you can always sell it if you become strapped for cash :)

I am trying to save cash, but the deal he can give on the 100-400IS + possible cashback is making me drool

my only worry with d-rev is getting stung on import tax, where as kersos prices are what you pay, no extras

My 100-400L IS and 24-70 F2.8 were significantly cheaper even with delivery and import duties included.
