Canon 7D mk2 Thread

The 7D2 basically tells us what the 5D4 will be I reckon.

It'll get the new AF and metering systems plus dual-pixel focusing. The sensor will be an incremental improvement with possibly a couple more megapixels and slightly better noise performance.

I like that they've added the joystick to the BG-E16 grip, as with the BG-E11. I adore this addition and using my 7D in portrait annoys the hell out of me now :)

i think 5d4 will be a 36mp camera

No it isn't. The UK price for a 5DIII is still £2200 ish body only and this is £1600 AT LAUNCH, the 5DIII has been around for a couple of years. £600 difference isn't very close.

They're different bodies for different uses anyway.

quite close. your spending near 2k. o some may be able to save an extra month or two to get a FF one if they like that more.

the main difference between these two is that ones FF and ones crop and faster.

It depends what you shoot.

I and many others could do sports on a 5D3's 6fps. Toggers from 30+ years have done so in much slower camera's :)

I dunno if I'd ever risk being out in bad weather with a camera even if it was weather proof!
7 to 10 is noticeable but I doubt taking 3 more pictures is going to give me much

How much would I pay for the AF alone and no swivel screen?
Not 1k

the AF alone is worth more than 1k in dev/research.

You think its cheap and simple to make a very intelligent AF?

Yeah I definitely said for me.
1000 on better AF vs a new lens really. That is the choice for me.
Had it got a swivel screen instead of GPS I'd be more for it.

your lens wont help u get better AF without a decent AF from the camera to begin with.

a missed blurry shot is no good mate.

for me i rather have a noisy/average IQ then a blurry missed shot due to a poor AF.

its the reason why i went from a 400d to a 5d3.

Do not understimate the usefulness of a good AF system inside a camera

But good to amazing AF is only going to make a difference in a few occasions (of which I don't get to do much)

I haven't really got a lens for birds in flight for example

Then u should invest in your lenses first before a body.

Your purpose is nothing to do with whether a 7d2 is worth an investment or not because clearly you are after a lens.

Get your lenses first then think about a new body if need be :)

blury unfocused shots can kill a perfect imagine.

Loss of IQ wont.

a none blury image trumps an image that has good IQ!!! You can have the best IQ in a image but that image will be ruined with a blury pic!

Plenty of comparisons out there. It's only when the ISO gets really high that the crop loses it's benefit. Otherwise it produces better results than the 5D3 cropped. This was with the 7D, so should be slightly better with the 7D2.

If I was looking for a full frame for this sort of use I'd get the Nikon D810, as in DX mode it's still 15MP. The 5D3 is something like 8MP. (if someone would just give me all the money for my gear, rather than having to go through all the hassle of selling, I'd have a D810 quite happily)
