Canon Autumn Cashback

hmmmm 6D + Grip from kerso - cashback = £1314 far to tempting

Kerso's products are all imports as far as I'm aware, so you won't be getting any cashback if purchasing from there.

See section 1.4 of the cashback terms and conditions:

1.4 All products must be purchased within the UK or ROI from a UK or ROI retailer and must have been supplied and distributed to retailers by Canon
UK Ltd or Canon group companies located in the European Economic Area (EEA). Please check with your retailer that this is the case to help avoid disappointment.

It also goes on to say that anything bought from eBay won't be accepted, or Amazon Marketplace Sellers.

When I used a similar Canon cashback promotion on a 70-200 f/2.8 a couple of years ago, you have to send off your receipt, which also has the serial number printed on it. They are going to check its genuine UK stock, so there isn't really any way of getting around it.

Yup.

Cashback wont work

go full blown and get a 6d.
If I tell you that my walk around 40d lens is the 100-400L you'll realise I'm somewhat addicted to reach, for wildlife and a non-standard porthole on the world. :-)

I also daren't go full frame because once you do, there's no looking back, and life's even more expensive on that side of the fence.

Plus, I'm never going to be pro, or sell work, so capturing the moment at greater range is more important to me than catching it optimally. Which is probably the wrong way of thinking about it, but I enjoy this hobby too much to take it too seriously.

And typing that is helping me realise I'm not going to be comfortable paying twice what I need to to get a very solid upgrade. Looks like I now have a £600 lens budget as well. :-) Though the end of Oct window means I can afford to be patient, just in case of miraculous 70D reviews.

People in this very same forum could not get cashback as they did not deem Kerso's invoice as a valid UK retailer. :)
FWIW I definitely got Cashback on my Kerso 100-400L, but that was about 4 years ago... Maybe 5. I thought cameras were considered grey imports (or whatever the terminology) but lenses are considered to be a global offering, covered in whatever local market you claim in.

Kerso supplies a UK receipt with all his products, thus full warranty and cashback.

Did you guys not read the part I posted from Canon's own terms and conditions for the cash back?

It specifically states it must be an item supplied to the retailer from Canon UK or Canon Europe. From Kerso's own terms, that isn't the case:

Canon products have a 1 year Canon USA warranty valid in all of Europe with UK invoice provided.

It doesn't really matter if the warranty is worldwide on lenses, the terms they have set are that it must be a UK designated product.

I'll also add in there two further pertinent points from the terms and conditions:

1.5 All products must be new and genuine Canon products. Purchases of second hand, refurbished or reconditioned products, or products which are counterfeit or infringe the intellectual property rights of the Canon group of companies in any way (for example, including but not limited to parallel or “grey” products) will not qualify under this promotion.

1.6 Specific seller exclusions: Products purchased from ebay, whether
listed as new or otherwise, will not be eligible for this promotion. Products purchased from third party sellers on Amazon (i.e not from Amazon directly) whether fulfilled by Amazon or not, will not be eligible for this promotion.

You can read it fully here:

When a business is effectively giving out free money, they are going to do everything they can do ensure they do not have to pay out needlessly, which is why they have these terms, they also have a duty to their UK retailers, many official ones of which are actively advertising this cashback deal.

Of course you have nothing to loose by trying it, but I doubt it will work.
