Canon EOS 7D?

Anyone looking at getting one of these?

My 40D is dying on me and I'm looking for a replacement and just noticed this one but not sure if it suits my needs. Also I'm wary of buying brand new because I got a 50D when it was released and have never really liked it.

Is it more of a portrait camera like the 5D seemed to be rather than an action one?

Thanks for the link to the other thread, I didn't search because I didn't think you could search with two characters, please merge this thread to the other if it helps.

Is there a release date for it? It looks pretty decent from what I can see and will be a better option for me than a 1D mk111 which looks a bit long in the tooth now.

It's £1440 on one of those HK sites, which seems a good price considering the other thread had them suggesting two grand.

The online shop in the jungle suggests that this is due for release in January 2010. Thats not right is it?
