Can't access on 40g maxtor, help please.

I'm trying access data on mate's 40g maxtor. The drive shows up in the bios, also in windows device manager and shows no problems. But when I open "my computer" to show the list of drives, its not in there and neither is it in windows explorer.
this drive is slaved in with a seagate btw.

Any suggestions?

See if the drive is listed in Disk Management.

yes it is, its also listed as active but doesn't have a drive letter.

I'd like to retrieve as much data off it first if possible before I partition/format.
How to do this is what I really need to find out.
