cant boot windows through usb ;(

hey guys, so im trying to boot windows through my usb flash drive, and ive followed all instructions ive found, but when i boot my pc up it comes up with a black screen with just a straight line in the top left corner (the one that flickers for when you type something) and nothing loads... if it helps im trying to install it on a vertex 2

any ideas?

Silly question, you have set the first boot device to be USB in the BIOS?
