Replaced PSU yesterday and PC was working fine all day. Got up this morning and when i switched my computer on it just freezes. Lights etc are all on, fans working but it just wont start up. Restarted several times yesterday and was working fine!!

Any Ideas???

Thanks

Anything on the screen at all?

Reseat all components?

Check all the PSU connections to the motherboard have been made?

Unplug all non-essential peripherals (DVD, USB stuff, non-boot hard drives) in case it is PSU.

Just tried putting the old psu in and same thing happening. how do i short the pins? tried unplugging cd writer and dvd writer with no luck. The led is staying on on my cd writer but cant eject. All connected to mobo correctly, like i say it was all working great yesterday

Check the motherboard manual. It will help you locate where you reset CMOS/BIOS. It will probably explain also. Basically there are 3 pins and its usually on the top 2 pins the jumper, you have to place the jumper on the bottom two pins for a few seconds and then place it back onto the top 2 pins and that resets CMOS! :)

It depends on the motherboard as to where the pins are. On the DS4 there's two little pins under the battery.

Look for pins around the bios or battery with CLR_CMOS or something written next to them - if you find them, just connect them with something for a few seconds.

Do you get any error beeps?

Maybe look up what error beeps your mobo gives off in its manual - if there's an error code for no RAM, try taking the ram out then turning the computer on. Then, if it beeps without ram, but does nothing with the ram, then it's probably the ram that's broke. Same thing with the graphics card and any other peripherals.

Getting no beeps. Tried disconnecting devices including Graphics card but still no luck. Its turning on making the usuall whirring sound but just stopping with all lights permanently on.

Sorted at last! Took the fan and heatsink off, put it back on and hey presto!!
Unreal, still can't understand why but at least its working now.
Thanks
