Can't change game resolutions?

The other day everything was fine and I could have any res up to 1920x1440, as that's what my monitor supports. Today however I try to change the res in any game and it alts out of game and back again but nothing has changed and it remains at 1280x1024. This happens in every game, I don't know what has changed since I was last able to change the res.

Any ideas?

try uninstalling/reinstalling graphics drivers if you dont have any luck.
should cure the problem.

im assuming you have run tests and this happens on more than 1 game

I have the same problem with some of my games, i've been unable to go to higher resolutions since i started using a DVI cable instead of my old VGA cable.

Are you trying to display at a higher refresh rate than you monitor supports?

install latest graphics card drivers

I had tons of problems with my 19" TFT in Vista at first due to shoddy nvidia drivers not allowing anything over 1024x768

19" flat-screen CRT.

I'm getting new drivers now, so will see if it helps.
