ok guys just received a new belkin wireless router, and am looking at having 1 main computer connected via ethernet, and the other (laptop) via wireless. after following the instructions to a T - the laptop connected up fine first time but upon signing in through the computer it would hang on 'initialising dsl modem' (with AOL). i signed out of aol on the laptop and the computer connected fine! so for some reason the router won't allow the router and the laptop to be connected to AOL at the same time!

any ideas guys?

Are you using a router AND a modem at the same time? That won't work. You can only have 1 ADSL device connected to the phone line at any one time.

You shouldn't be signing on with either machine, the router should be the only device which connects to AOL, the PCs connect to the router and it manages the connection.

all sorted now guys, for some reason during the belkin setup it wanted the individual email addresses and passwords instead of the main user's email and pass like all the other routers i've used ask for! so it was basically trying to sign in twice which was explaining the 1 comp at a time!
