Can't connect to Hotmail !?!?

Why would the settings in my wireless card in my PC affect the Laptop that is connected to the router by cable ?
See diagram as to why I don't think a problem on my PC's wireless card can make the laptop act broken in the same way...

Any old how, I did a router reset and the problem still persists :(

I appear to be well and truly stuffed.

I tried to ask about your ETHERNET card in your PC a number of times. This is the one where you said are having problems. So this is where I was trying to help you troubleshoot.

You do expect miracles. You expect help without giving anyone any real details. You put pictures on websites that cannot be viewed (and then refuse to describe them) I can't guess how far through the reset you are. have you put the username password in? Do you have ADSL synched?

Also you are using a strange, probally cheap, unusually branded router. This kind of "money saver" backfires on days like this when there is no real support available.

My last bit of advice to you - go and buy a decent router. (Not Belkin). Many quality routers available in OCUK or any other shop. Linksys/Netgear/D-Link/Buffalo. Decent brands are worth the money. They setup easily first time, and run for hours upon end without trouble. Also asking for help on this kind of forum becomes quicker and you'll get more answers when other people share the same brand of router.

(This is now the very first time I have EVER unsubcribed from a thread... more important things to do with my life)

Sorry if I don't speak internet connectivity lingo correctly.
And I am appreciative of the advice, don't get me wrong.

Here goes. I'll explain everything step by step.

1) The laptop is connected to the Edimax AR-7064g+a router by an ethernet cable.
2) My PC contains a Sweex LW052 PCI wireless card.
3) On Sunday, both the laptop and PC could connect to every internet page fine.
4) No settings were tweaked at all on either machine.
5) On Monday, suddenly various sites were inaccessible. They were identical sites on both the Laptop and PC
6) When using external USB modems, both the Laptop and PC can connect to every site without trouble using the same ISP settings that the router is using.

So I have a couple of questions.
1) How can an identical problem affect both the Laptop and the PC at exactly the same time.
2) Has anyone ever heard of a router suddenly breaking in such a way that most sites are allowed but some aren't ?

(yes I am aware they are not the best brands in the world, but they were working perfectly up uptil 3 days ago :) )

Okies buddy, it's as I thought something screwed up with the DNS on your router. I just had a look on the uk Edimax site and its listed as a known issue.

You can use use the best pingable DNS' from kitz site or just use eclipse's own DNS which your usb modem is correctly receiving, and your router is screwing up for some reason.

Eclipse's DNS:
212.104.130.9
212.104.130.65

Dunno what to suggest really, I tried looking for a firmware update for your router, but it doesn't appear to have one. Thats what you get for buying dodgey goods from Dave I guess ;).

If I have a brain wave between now and tomorrow I'll let you know, but nothing springs to mind.

Isnt this a common issue though? I hear it sometimes at work, people have just brought a new wireless router and well microsoft updates/MS websites/hotmail/windows live-Msn just wont load.

Its just some setting in the router surely...

In fact googling it its a very popular issue with plenty work arounds/fixes/suggestions:

http://forums.extremeoverclocking.c...ss_Hotmail_eBay_and_other_sites-t-107100.html

Theres more just type in cannot access hotmail via wireless router.....

Seems its usualy just some incorrect Router settings setup/

Whoooo hoooo !!

I turned UPnP off and set the MTU to 1492 and its all working fine now.

BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats :)

So what is it the upnp or the mtu?

I'm guessing its more likely to be the mtu. The upnp has nothing to do with websites afaik, its only used for p2p connections really.
